Older Infant (12 Months- 20 Months)

In this Montessori classroom, we aid our older infants in achieving independence. In this class, we encourage bathroom independence; begin introducing the Montessori curriculum, development of language through story time and practical life skills, and music with movement activities. We also encourage our children to use utensils, to drink from a cup and sit in a chair. Our activities allow our older infants to develop fine and gross motor coordination and visual discrimination through the senses and Montessori learning materials.

Our teachers will:

  • Introduce older infants to new people, new objects, new words
  • Encourage older infants to point to their body parts
  • Teach our children how to shake head for “no” and head for “yes”, wave hi and good bye
  • Encourage older infants to make faces in the mirror
  • Introduce Montessori Curriculum such as Montessori Mystery Bag, Fruits and Vegetables
  • Show excitement for older infants when they show new skills or abilities
  • Teach table manners and learning how to use utensils
