1. Follow all Cypress Montessori School policies and ensure that all assistants are following the school’s policies and performing their job satisfactorily; ensuring appropriate class decorum is maintained.
  2. Be a positive role model for the children, and for other staff persons
  3. Plan and execute age appropriate, Montessori curriculum; with materials to provide experiences in all educational areas. Lesson plans for the month are to be given to the director by the 15th of the previous month.
  4. Plan and supervise activities which promote the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child
  5. Supervise all activities to insure safety of each child. Responsible for assistant’s compliance to policies, especially Ratio Policy, Playground Procedures and Release Procedures
  6. Responsible for a hygienic environment (alternate with assistants in these duties).
    1. Bathrooms and toilets must be cleaned at naptime every day. Mats must be sanitized after every naptime. Materials and shelves are to be cleaned every Friday. Laundry is done once a week (or daily in infant rooms)
  7. Maintain a neat and organized classroom. Make sure materials are clean, well maintained, and accessible and age appropriate with variety and difficulty to maintain the children’s interest. If there is a need for additional materials or supplies make a list and discuss with the director several weeks before materials are needed.
  8. Confirm that lunch and snack are properly served and that good nutrition habits are reinforced. Notify the director immediately if there are any problems with servings. Try to alternate with assistants with assistants in outside and lunch duties.
  9. If a parent has any kind of conversation with you about an area of concern with their child, or they are unsatisfied about something, make notes about the discussion, and keep it in the child’s file. Make a copy for the director.
